Spokane's Salvation Army starts early on this because there are close to 2,500 children in need to school supplies. In 2009, they served 1,600 children and in 2010, they served 1,987 children.

West Central Spokane Healthy Corner Store Opening Delayed

Plans to open a Spokane Healthy Corner Store were canceled late last week. Parkside Grocery in the West Central Neighborhood was set to debut July 21st with the help of Spokane Regional Health District and West Central's Healthy Neighbors Committee. Complications with EBT authorization is delaying the opening. Store owner, Chuck Redmon, says they're going to try again next week.

"40% of our business down here is EBT and we wouldn't be able to sell to them," Redmon said.

Oil Can Henry's Pledges To Fight Breast Cancer

Oil Can Henry's “Make a Change for the Cure” fundraiser kicked off Saturday at their various Spokane locations. Their team will be wearing pink hats and bowties to support the mission to fight breast cancer.

The business is pledging to raise $75,000, all of which will go to Susan G. Komen for the Cure foundation.

Three Days of Grand Prix

Northwest Grand Prix is a three day event at Spokane County Raceway this Friday through Sunday with gates openning at 9am each day. Several styles of cars will be on the track at the same time with lots of passing, braking and speeds reaching 165 mph.
